Twitter Applications

Because Twitter is growing at such a fast pace, applications to bolster it are being created on a daily basis. Here are a few of my favorites:• TwAitter (www.twaitter.com): TwAitter allows you to schedule your tweets, create groups, manage multiple users, and monitor your brand.

• TweetDeck (www.TweetDeck.com): TweetDeck allows you to manage Twitter on your desktop. It shows you the tweets of people you’re following, replies, and direct messages in three clean columns. No clicking back and forth necessary!

• SocialOomph (wwwSocialOomph.com): SocialOomph allows you to release tweets in the future. Going on a vacation but found some good content to share? You can use this application to write tweets ahead of time to post automatically while you’re gone.

• SocialToo (www.SocialToo.com): Similar to SocialOomph, SocialToo allows you to filter tweets to avoid spammers and sets up surveys that your Twitter followers can take—a great way to get feedback.

• Mr. Tweet (MrTweet.com): Mr. Tweet is a true personal networking assistant. It recommends people to follow and also tells you who is following you. It’s a great tool to help you build your Twitter list.

• HootSuite (HootSuite.com): HootSuite allows you to track multiple accounts and supports multiple users. It also lets you track statistics such as how many people clicked on your last link.

• TwitPic (wwwTwitPic.com): TwitPic allows you to share pictures on Twitter. It’s very easy to use!

• TweetBeep (TweetBeep.com): TweetBeep allows you to set up email alerts for keywords that you want to follow on Twitter.

• Twitterfeed (Twitterfeed.com): Twitterfeed is a service that feeds your blog to Twitter. Use it in moderation! You don’t want your Twitter stream to be full of your own posts.

• BubbleTweet (www.BubbleTweet.com): BubbleTweet allows you to combine video with Twitter. You can create a quick video introduction of yourself using this application and put it on your Twitter profile. The one downside to BubbleTweet is that it gives you an alternative URL. For example, mine is www.bubbletweet.com/id/mgnxe. It plays the video and then turns into my Twitter URL. However, I cannot get it to play directly on my Twitter profile without using a different URL. Despite this drawback, this application is still worth it!
